Offline Files Not Working...

Postby paulreddy » 25 Mar 2014, 01:46

Hi
[Ipad, latest OS version and latest TeamDrive version]

I have my spaces set to all "Available Offline".
In the past, this has meant that all files were stored locally, and I have access to all
files when flying/travelling/out of wifi. And of course syncing happens when I reconnect.

Recently I needed to access a file when offline (working in a cafe).
The file showed with a green tick.
So I tapped it, and the green tick turned to an orange tick and I got the spinning cursor.
So it seems like the file was not local (even though it initially indicated it was).

I tapped another file and 4 more suddenly switched to an orange tick.
In fact, tapping any file in this folder (and several other folders nearby) cause the
green tick icon to switch to orange. I tried images and documents, small and
large files.

The settings icon down the bottom then showed "9" (I'm guessing that meant
9 files waiting to download).

Has something changed? Does the offline attribute of a space have a different meaning now?
Thx.
Paul.

Hello Paul,

we are facing the same problem, in the same way you described above. Also with iOS 7.1 and TeamDrive App 3.2.41.

Strange to say, this problem occurs on two iPads. Three other iPads with TeamDrive are working as intended.

When I set my spaces to "Available Offline" it downloads all files onto the iPad and I can use them when disconnecting WLAN.
But at the next day the problem occurs again.

A reinstall of the application didn't helped.

Thanks for your help.

Regards

Tobias

Hi Tobias

Thanks for the comment - its good to know its not just me. I'm curious that it works
on some ipads and not others. Are they using the same spaces? Same configuration?

Not a peep out of TD on this yet. Normally they are quick at responding.
Crossing my fingers for a solution. I've got a ton of travelling coming up.
Cheers.

Hey there,

Getting a little frustrated on this one. Have emailed their support and got nothing
(no response at all). Unusually there has been no response on this forum either.

Does anyone else suffer from this?

Thx.

Just as an FYI for anyone else suffering from this...

I have 4 spaces - all set to available offline. All were exhibiting the same symptoms (described above).
I deleted the three smallest from my iOS device, then resent the invite from my mac ("invite all devices").
On the iPad, I selected "Accept and make available offline".

So far (at least for the three spaces tested), files seem to be correctly downloaded and available when
airplane mode is on. I'm about to try this on the biggest space <crosses fingers> - about 2.5GB.

So perhaps the solution is simply to delete and re-add the spaces on your mobile devices.

BTW: I did a quick survey of a few competing secure file stores: waula, spider oak (their new hive product)
and boxcryptor. None of them offer this feature of having a set of your files available offline.
At best, you can select individual files to be available offline - which is of little use when you have to
select from hundreds of files. Its often requested on their forums, and none have achieved it yet.

Cheers.
Paul.

Ok. The largest space has now completed syncing, and it *seems* that
files are available when in airplane mode (I've tested about a dozen).

So deleting and re-adding the space seems to work.

BTW: the activity tab seems like complete fiction. After adding 7000 items,
the activity page is showing 76 items since 7 days ago. Looking inside
the spaces shown on the activity page, I see a very small subset of
actual changes. Weird.
