Use TeamDrive on 1 PC with 2 different accounts?

Use TeamDrive on 1 PC with 2 different accounts?

Postby Frank123 » 12 Feb 2009, 22:53

Hi,

is it possible to change the account with which one is logged in? Or is it the philosophy of TeamDrive that the account "belongs" to a specific PC/client, so that it must not be changed?!

Hi Frank,

you can install TeamDrive for all users on your PC and run different users versions, one in each PC user account. Each new user can run on a different. If you switch the PC user on your PC you can start a different TeamDrive User.

An other possibility will be an installation of TeamDrive on a removable drive (USB Drive). We will release the removable installer shortly. This would require a manual shut down of the running instance of TeamDrive before you start a different TeamDrive Installation from the USB Drive. This means that you could have your private username and TeamDrive installation on a secure USB-Drive. Shut down your business TeamDrive user installation, attach your USB Drive, start TeamDrive from the USB-Drive and no private data will ever be stored an your business PC if you use Ceedo, U3, PortableApps or other enviroments.

Does this answer your questions?

Hi, Detlef!

Not quite. My idea was to switch between different TeamDrive accounts within one single Windows user account. E. g. to be able to manage/adjust my business share drive as well as my personal drive while working on my home PC.

Apperantly, that's not possible (yet?).

I second this.
It would be very usefull to have a LogOff menu item.
When reopening TeamDrive it then should ask for username and password again. So that you could switch user on the same profile.

Interesting comments, and we will certainly discuss alternative scenarios.

TeamDrive is meant to be a persons (users) virtual storage. To make this usable it offers the automatic synchronization on to a single or multiple devices set up by the user. In his/her virtual storage there can be an unlimited number of different shared spaces, which all can consist different groups of users. Under the same username, the user can identify himself with individual contact information in each space.

As of now you can shut down TeamDrive (locally) and run a different TeamDrive installation on a USB device (HardDrive).

A way to combine multiple users in one installation is not built yet. If we find strong demand for it we will evaluate such kind of configuration. Your questions definitely help addressing this subject.

Thanks

TeamDrive on USB Drives and from within encrypted media

Postby Detlef Schmuck » 18 Feb 2009, 15:57

Anyone who would likes to install TeamDrive on a USB device can try this one out.

http://tinyurl.com/cp84fc

This is an installer which installs a complete TeamDrive installation, program files, database, application data and the landing folder "TeamDrive Spaces" into one folder. You can run this installation from any USB device (USB hard drive, USD SSD drive, fast USB stick or even from Windows 2000 :) )

We will also provide a .zip installation of such kind for anyone who cannot or does not want to use the regular installation routine.

Of course you can also start and run TeamDrive from within a PGP or Truecrypt volume. Just make sure to mount your encrypted drive first, before starting TeamDrive. (Do not put TeamDrive into autostart of Windows in this case)

Any feedback from you is welcome.
