no system tray icon for TD2 (ubuntu 11.10 with unity)

Postby ds4711 » 08 Oct 2011, 11:54

Hi,
after successful installation of TeamDrive 2.4.137 in Ubuntu 11.10 (amd64) I can start and use
the client by manually starting /usr/local/share/teamdrive2/TeamDrive2 without any problems.
But after adding this command and the parameter "autostart" to the list of programs
that are executed automatically after login to ubuntu, it doesn't show any td icon in the system tray.
I already tried to identify even hidden / invisible icons, but there is none for teamdrive.
The client program itself is running, though, which prevents me from manually starting
the client again - error message:
[ -1 : MainThread ] [ CTeamDriveLauncherPrivate_Linux.cpp : 67 : isInstanceRunning ] "td2_1451.pid" lebt noch: true
[ -1 : MainThread ] [ CTeamDriveLauncherPrivate_Linux.cpp : 122 : isAnotherTeamDriveProcess ] process name "TeamDrive2.i386"
Any ideas or help would be very much appreciated.
Best regards, Doro.

Same here unfortunately. That was the only reason that kept me using gnome 2. But now I think it's about time for teamdrive to get an updated notification plugin.

Is there something in the works already? I think many of the Linux users are on ubuntu...

Cheers and thanks this great product!

PS: please consider open sourcing it

This seems to be a problem with TeamDrive and Gnome 2, we will look into this.

I think it works on gnome 2 but the problem occurs in unity or gnome 3. Thanks for looking into this!

I just figured out how to get the Teamdrive-Icon back again.

1. Install dconf-editor and start it as described here: http://ubuntu.sun.ac.za/wiki/index.php/Show_tray_icons_in_unity
2. Add TeamDrive2.i386 to the list of programs. Don't forget to put quotes around the name
