3.0.6 (188) not displaying all messages

Postby c273 » 23 Sep 2012, 18:49

I and my wife use TD3 and TDPS. She is using 3.0.5 (169) and I have upgraded to 3.0.6 (188).

When I change a file and it is sync'd via my server, both she and I get the activity message saying it has been changed and sync'd.

However, when she changes a file, even though my copy gets updated, there is no message in the activity log. If she creates a new file in a space or deletes a file in a space, this is noted in my Activity log - just not changes to existing files.

Sometimes, for a short period, I get "RegServer not reachable" but this clears within a minute or two but doesn't fix the above issue.

May I make a suggestion - can an extra column be added to the Activity Message panel called 'Action'. When referring to a file or directory, it could have one of the following values: Created, Modified, Deleted.

Hello and thanks for the bug report.

We have taken note of this bug and it has been corrected. The notification logs in the Activity window should function correctly on the next version of TeamDrive that is released.

Since I can't go back to my previous release (error message saying database is not compatible), can you give an ETA on when the version with this fix will be released?

Also, any comment concerning my sugestion - an extra column in the Activity Message panel called 'Action'. When referring to a file or directory, it could have one of the following values: Created, Modified, Deleted. Is this likely to be implemented? It would allow the log to be sorted by clicking on the log header, as is the case with the current columns, and the action recorded would be easily determined. Currently, the icons in the first column are not that clear (much to similar - for example I would expect an 'Added' file to have a big green '+' in its icon and the 'Deleted' file to have a big red 'x' in its icon, although I am not sure what you would use for 'Modified').

You should be able to go back to your previous release without a program. I was able to downgrade to 3.0.6 (182) and 3.0.5 (169) to test the bug you reported. I just uninstalled TeamDrive using its uninstall function and re-installed the older versions.

I cannot directly comment as to whether your suggestion can/will be implemented. You are welcome to post your comment in the UI section of the forum. You could also try sorting your columns by 'Last Change'.

When I tried to go back from 3.0.6 (188) to 3.0.5 (169), I just ran the installation file and it did complain that the 'database' was incompatible (sorry - I do not remember the exact wording).

I will try uninstalling the current version first and then installing 3.0.5 (169) to see if this happens again. I was concerned that uninstalling would remove my configuration if I did it separately.

Thank you - I have submitted a new post in the UI thread re: the extra column.

Thank you - uninstalling 3.0.6 (188) and re-installing 3.0.5 (169) worked but had the unwanted affect of removing all my information (spaces and my TDPS data) - luckily I have that information to hand.

Also, the Activity log now only shows the adding of these spaces to the new client - all previous Activity log messages were deleted during the uninstall/reinstall.

That is correct. Upon deleting the program it deletes the log information as well.

The bug you revealed to us will be fixed in the next version of TeamDrive. However, each party needs to be on the latest version of the TeamDrive client for the fix to function correctly.

Any chance of an option during uninstall to retain all settings if the user is about to re-install a different version?

I am sure I have upgraded before (but going to a later version and not trying to go back) such that, when running the new installation program, it automatically removes the old version, installs the new and retains all settings.

The backup folder, which contains the Space and server keys, is not deleted during uninstallation. Which settings would you need to retain?

An update to TeamDrive has been released.

The activity messages should display correctly from now on.
