"Version not in cache"

I have a large number of previous files with a black circle in the icon, which the tooltip says means: "version not in cache".

1. What does this mean?
2. Is it an issue?
3. Does it need fixing?
4. If so, how?

I am using the Windows version 3.1.0 (Build: 323) and the Team Drive Personal Server version 1.0.044 running under Windows Home Server 2011 (Windows Server 2008 R2). I do not keep any files in the Cloud.

Thank you.

By 'previous files' I will assume you mean files in the version tree.

The black circle overlay means that file is not located locally on the machine. It is on the server, but it is not in your file system. To download it to your file system you would have to double-click on the file and the version will be downloaded from the server. This is, however, normal that older versions of files are removed from the cache and no longer in the local file system. The cache cleans itself up regularly and after a while versions of some files are removed from the local cache but they always remain on the server unless you right-click on them and delete them from the server.
