Postby fady005 » 13 Jan 2015, 17:43

Hello,

I noticed on 2 on my shared spaces an exclamation mark in a red circle on it and the status "Traffic limit reached". Could you explain to me what does this mean and hoe to resolve this problem ?

Thanks for your help !

It means that the allotted 20 GB of data traffic has been used for that user's Spaces. So, if you do not own the Spaces, the traffic limit of the user who owns the Space has been reached. The traffic limit resets automatically every month.

Thanks for your answer.

Could you give more details ?
-1- What do you mean by the person who own the Spaces ? The one who uploaded the files ? The one who sent the invitations ? The administrator(s) ?
-2- What do you include in traffic limit ? The size of files uploaded by the owner ? The size of files uploaded by the owner and the size of the same files downloaded by all the invited persons ?
-3- If the traffic limit is reached. Does this means that we cannot upload files anymore ? And can we download the files already uploaded ?
-4- Where can we find the actual state of this traffic counter ?
-5- Is there a way to resolve it at least for the first month ?

Thanks again for your help.

-1- What do you mean by the person who own the Spaces ? The one who uploaded the files ? The one who sent the invitations ? The administrator(s) ? In the Space member list, next to one of the names you will see the word "Owner". This person owns the Space and when the traffic limit is reach it is reached on this person depot.
-2- What do you include in traffic limit ? The size of files uploaded by the owner ? The size of files uploaded by the owner and the size of the same files downloaded by all the invited persons ? All traffic that occurs on that depot. If you have a 1 GB Space and you invite 10 people, every time they join the Space they each use 1 GB of traffic. So if they join over and over again, for whatever reason the traffic will be used up faster. If you are behind a proxy and the proxy does not allow TeamDrive to access our servers in order to send messages to it, TeamDrive will continue to try to send messages to the server until it can reach the server. This can also devour your traffic limit. If you are behind a proxy you need to whitelist our urls so the server can be reached. We will need to give you the urls that need to be whitelisted
-3- If the traffic limit is reached. Does this means that we cannot upload files anymore ? And can we download the files already uploaded ? It means the traffic limit on that user's depot has been reach and no more traffic on this user's depot is allowed until the traffic limit has been increased or reset. Buying more storage will increase your traffic limit.
-4- Where can we find the actual state of this traffic counter ? At the moment this is no visible state of the traffic limit. The traffic limit is 10 times your hosted storage limit.
-5- Is there a way to resolve it at least for the first month ? First you would need to find out why the limit was reached. Then we can go from there. As mentioned, to increase the traffic limit you need to increase your storage limit.

Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for all your answers. Everything is clearer now. Maybe these indications should be added to the software presentation because I wasn't aware of this until I had the problem. And a progress bar of used traffic next to used space can be really useful.

One last question/confirmation : I read that using a WebDAV server cancel this traffic limit. Is it true ?

The traffic limit exists only on our servers. If you host the data yourself or someone else hosts the data, a traffic limit is not enforce by TeamDrive because TeamDrive is not hosting the data.

Was ist nun damit gemeint?

Ben

TeamDrive uses a license structure. Licenses are connected to usernames and not installations. This means that any and every user only needs to enter the license key into their client once. After the license key has been entered, this status applies to all of this user’s installations.

There are 3 licenses: Free, Personal and Professional.

With the Free license, the client is limited to syncing a maximum of 2 GB of data. This means that no matter where the data is hosted (in our cloud, on a TeamDrive Personal Server or on a WebDAV server) the client will not sync more than 2 GB of data.

To lift this limit a paid license (Personal or Professional) is required. Click here for a full feature list of all licenses. Once the limit is removed the TeamDrive client is able to sync as much data as you have available on our host server or your own.

Each TeamDrive user receives 2 GB of storage upon registration. The 2 GB of storage received from us is in no way related to the 2 GB sync limit of the Free license.

Thanks!
