Path or file length limitations 256 characters (234)

Due to Windows OS compatibility reasons we currently limit the filename length to 234 characters (path lenght).

We are working on a TeamDrive release scheduled for January 2010 which will support
unlimited length of path names (file and folder names), as you find it in Linux
and Mac OS operating systems. For Windows we plan to display long file and path
names (exceeding 256 characters) in the TeamDrive Explorer only. As we cannot save
these long paths in the Windows file system.

Current scenarios and problems:

If you watch a folder in your file system with long folder- and file- names the
following could happen.
The TeamDrive member which you invite just accepts the invitation and the space
will be placed in the default TeamDrive Space path which is very long by itself.

Sample.
C:\documents and settings\user\user data\TeamDrive Spaces

To avoid problems with long paths, users may change the default path to:

C:\TD_Spaces

To change the default path, open the TeamDrive settings in the Extras menue , where you find it in the Advanced Settings.
