How to delete space zombies

Hi,
I am running a personal server (linux version) and it seems that I have deleted some spaces only locally on the clients but not on the server itself.
In the data folder I have some directories which are empty and one which is still filled with files. There is no client which has these folders as "active" or "inactive" spaces.
How can I delete such zombies on the server? Is just a "rm -R 3" doing the job for example?
