Offline files not working

There seems to be a problem - files are no longer available offline on iOS.
This is reported in your forums here:
http://forum.teamdrive.net/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2623

[summary: space marked as available offline. Try to view a file - indicator switches from green
to orange and attempts to download (which it shouldn't - file should be local)].

I haven't heard anything on it for a while - the topic was raised in forums
over a week ago. Also I've now created two support tickets on it - but
got no response there either.

Any comments? This used to work.

This is a bug that we are currently working to reproduce and fix. Could you please tell me which version you are using and you experienced this problem before or after updating?

Hi Kenneth,

Thanks for getting back to me.
On iOS, I am running 3.2.41 (Build 727). The AppStore reports it is the latest.
On the Mac, I am running 3.2.0.

As I reported in the forums here (http://forum.teamdrive.net/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2623),
it appears that deleting the space on iOS and then re-inviting my iPad fixes
the problem - at least temporarily.

I'll do some more testing today to see if it stays fixed. Given that it has worked flawlessly
since you got offline spaces working (many months) - I'm thinking this might take a while...

Cheers.
Paul

BTW: did you know that when you hit "TeamDrive Log" inside Settings on iOS,
you get a message: "Unable to Display: 20121213_124819.log.log"

Aha! I have a small test space (called "testspace") that I used when I was first playing with TeamDrive.
It is set to "Available Offline", and is displaying the problem.
Its only got 5 files and 2 folders.
I have not deleted re-added 'testspace'.

Here's the process:
I went offline and tried viewing a number of files on all my other spaces (the ones I have deleted and re-added).
They all work.

I looked at one file in in "testspace", and it showed the problem - the green dot turned orange,
and settings showed an outstanding file transfer.

Cheers
Paul

Thanks for your tests Paul. We are aware that rejoining the Space fixes the problem but we don't see this as a solution for users. We don't want users to have to rejoin all of their Spaces. We are still trying to find the root of the problem.

It seems like something happened when you updated to the latest version in the app store. We are currently trying to reproduce the problem.

By the way, I am not having the issue with the log not displaying. I'm not sure why you would see that message either.

Kenneth,
In case it's useful, I've PM'd you a log showing the failure.
(I can't view the log in TD, but I can email it!)

I hope its useful. Good luck with finding the issue.
Paul.

Thanks a lot for your continued patience and support. I'll forward the logs to our iOS devs.

BTW:
Rejoining spaces doesn't fix the problem.
It seemed to work initially, but then the problem came back (while I was travelling BTW,
which was pretty annoying).

Okay. Thanks for the update and the log files once again. They are extremely helpful towards helping us get to the root of the issue.

Kenneth,

I see there's been updates to both the desktop (3.2.1) and iOS (3.2.43 Build 801) apps.
I've installed them both.

I don't think you guys have got the offline files working right yet.

I have tried deleting a space from my iOS device and re-adding it.
I've also set the space to "Available Offline".
I've left the app open for ages hoping it would sync all files. It hasn't happened yet.
Every time I open the app, a few more files seem to start downloading.
Most of the files in the space seem to be orange. When I click on one that is green,
it usually turns orange.

When I click on a file that is orange, it seems to be added to the download list,
but never seems to arrive. Downloading seems to be incredibly slow so I guess
I give up waiting before it arrives. (note: I am online with a fast internet connection).

I'm sitting here 2 weeks after re-adding the space... The download status
(showing # files downloading) seems to be going down and up continually.

Sorry I don't have any more concrete results. Overall it seems in a worse place
now because even when I'm online, I can't view *any* files in the space (they just
get marked for download, and never arrive).

Cheers.
Paul.
