Usernames with German Umlauts cannot be invited

after switching from V2.x to V3.06, I recreated my TeamSpaces and invited the users. Unfortunately, users, who chose to have an Umlaut in their user name fail to get invite:
Message in Activity windows explains: User invited, Status: Sending Event Failed
Is it possible for you to fix this issue?
Is it feasible to rename a user?
