Option to have some spaces unencrypted.

Hi.

I'm new to this forum and new to Teamdrive, but I'm pretty excited already.

I'm using the TD3 client on windows xp and ubuntu 10.04 with my webdav server from owncloud.org and it works really well. While ownclouds server software seems rock solid, ownclouds clients really lets it down, both the ubuntu and windows client are bug filled and only work sporadically. That lead me to looking for another webdav client and eventually finding TD3 and wow! I'm glad I did.

I like the idea of hosting my own cloud and I like the idea of the TD3 client handling the encryption on the client side, great combination.

However I would love the option to mark some spaces to be unencrypted while leaving others encrypted as usual.

I've recently gone back to school. I don't have the option to install the TD3 client on the school computers nor would I want to. I love that my important stuff is encrypted and the ability to sync between my computers is encrypted too, but for school work (which don't require security) it would be great to be able to have an unencrypted space that I can access directly from my owncloud webserver.

Rather than having to run the TD3 client for my secure stuff and the dropbox client on the side for my insecure school work it would be great if it could all be done by the TD3 client alone.

I currently have 3 spaces in TD3, all encrypted. I would love the ability to add a 4th space for my school work and flag it to be unencrypted - selecting to sacrifice security on that space in order to be able to hook up to it from a web client instead.

Sorry, but unfortunately that is not possible. Your data is end-to-end encrypted and we do not store your encryption keys on the server.

I'm not talking about storing encryption keys on the server. I'm talking about simply not encrypting certain spaces before uploading. Being able to tell the TD3 client that the space "school work" should just be uploaded to the server as is, without any encryption at all, just whatever files are in the space in their natural state. No encryption keys would be needed for that space as the files are on the server in an unencrypted format. I'm talking about a simple upload function, skipping the encryption entirely for some spaces.

Originally you mentioned accessing the files through your webserver. This is why I answered the way I did in my initial post.

Regarding your second post, that is something that has not yet been considered but could, however, be an idea for the future. Thanks for the request.
